Arts and Crafts Boston We are a Paint Your Own Pottery studio & gallery located on Massachusetts Avenue right near the Porter Square T station in beautiful Cambridge, MA! Whether you are looking for a great place for kids crafts, some awesome personalized gifts ideas, or even just the perfect place to indulge your creative side with some ceramics to paint and pottery painting, you have found the right place.

The studio is a warm and inviting spot for working on arts and crafts, and we know that setting one foot inside our doors is a sure route to having some of the best gift ideas, to say nothing of our stimulating and fun classes!

Who We Are

Made by Me is owned and managed by Bessie Blum, a longtime Cambridge resident, art teacher, and artist. Her work—usually representations of people (and chickens) at play—is always on display (and often for sale) at Made By Me. Bessie is usually available to address your particular concerns and interests, and is often open to worthy suggestions and/or invitations to involve Made By Me in creative service to the Boston community. All staff at Made By Me have extensive experience playing with painting on pottery. Most, including Bessie, began as customers, and joined the staff in order to indulge their own passion for the process. Also, many staff do sell their work, and/or accept commissions. How it All Works

1. Come in anytime, browse our shelves, and pick out the piece you'd like to paint. Choose a mug, a vase, a lamp, a cookie jar, a flowerpot, a pet dish, a pie plate, a sushi plate, a piggy bank -- we've got lots for you to choose from.

2. Plan out your masterpiece with a #2 pencil (it burns off in the kiln!). Choose paints for your palette, and go! Our friendly staff artists are happy to assist you with hints, tips and techniques, and we have plenty of idea books, images, and stencils to help you find a direction.

3. When you're finished, leave it with us. We'll glaze and fire it for you, and have it ready for you to pick up in 6 days.

4. Come and get it! Your finished piece will be dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe. All materials used in our shop are nontoxic and safe for young children and old.

The cost is the price of the piece that you choose (the pieces range from $3.00 to $40.00) plus $4.00 per half-hour per painter for painting time. This includes everything from paints to glazing and firing and background music. All you have to bring is your talent and creativity!

Pottery Painting Parties: Birthdays, Showers, Team/Office Outings...

The Prix-Fixe:

Age 12 and under: $22 per person, 2 hours of studio time and a piece priced up to $12. Minimum: 6, Maximum: 11

A la Carte:

All ages. $125 for up to 12 painters, $8 for each additional painter for 2 hours, plus the actual cost of pottery selected.

The Fine Print

Made My Me now has a downstairs space available for children's or semi-private parties (8-20 people), offering a preselected palette of 25 colors (others available upon request), and our own party ware.

Party reservations for groups of 8 or more must be confirmed with a nonrefundable deposit of $50. With 48 hours' notice, parties may be rescheduled or a deposit may e converted to store credit.

Parties may run up to an extra 30 minutes without additional charges. Additional time may be charged at a rate of $4 per person per hour.
